Online Banking

I just learned the joys and convenience of online banking. It's great. You have to check it out if you haven't already. My son first told me about this banking method, which is easy to use and offers good interest rates for this day and time. I even read recently that online banking accounts offer better rates than most banks and credit unions. As far as I can see they are right. If you have access to a computer try it out.

There's a couple of things I like about online banking:
1. The bank pays the postage. With the cost of stamps continually going up, this is a real savings.

2. I setup my own level pay plan for monthly utilities. I calculate the average monthly due and setup an automatic draft for that amount. I carry a credit balance at the gas company, the electric company, etc, but they're good for it. If the credit gets too high (in my favor) I cancel a month's payment (or two) and get back to even. It's a nice feeling to get that monthly bill with 0.00 balance due :-)

3. If a payment doesn't get where it's supposed to be on time, the bank has more leverage than me to track it down and make it right. I've had to do this a few times and the bank has always come through for me.

4. The convenience of not having to 'pay bills' every month. Once they're on automatic pay, I just check the balance when they come in and toss it out, most of the time. Saves lots of time and heartache.

There's more, but that's enough for now :-)
